Dear Compost Compatriots,
We never imagined we’d be writing this kind of message, but here we are, with heavy hearts, sharing some difficult news. After much soul-searching, we’ve made the tough decision to pause our food scraps collection service for the foreseeable future. We don’t know yet when or if we’ll be able to start again, but for now, we need to take this step.
We’ll be collecting residential, commercial, and community bins for the final time. We’ll also make sure to cancel all payment accounts and refund any remaining service credits. Please know that we’re here to answer any questions or concerns you might have during this transition.
Since 2018, Springfield Compost Collective has been more than just a service—it’s been a labor of love, a community effort, and a shared dream of making Springfield a greener, more sustainable place. This journey would not have been possible without you. To our early adopters, the friends who scrubbed buckets, and those who cheered us on from the very beginning—thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your belief in us and in this mission has meant everything.
As we reflect on the past years, we’re filled with gratitude and pride for what we’ve accomplished together. The Springfield community’s dedication to reducing food waste and nurturing the soil has been nothing short of inspiring. Knowing that there are still other ways to recycle food scraps locally gives us hope that the impact we’ve made will continue to grow.
While our collection service is coming to an end, the heart of Springfield Compost Collective still beats. The nonprofit itself will remain, and we’re holding onto hope that others in this community might step forward to lead the next chapter of this story. If you or someone you know feels called to carry this torch, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s a pause, a reflection, and perhaps even the start of something new. Thank you for letting us be part of your lives and for being part of ours. We’re so grateful for the journey we’ve shared and the difference we’ve made together.
